Ding Dong The Fish Is Dead

So Christian and Paige really wanted a pet goldfish, and finally after weeks of saving they had enough cash for the big purchase. We went to Petsmart last Saturday, and after spending a good 30 minutes with the all important "Fish Manager" we left with two fish. The kids named the fish on the way home. Christian's fish would be named Porky (he's been watching The Little Rascals lately) and Paigie named hers Marcea.

We got the fish set up in their new fishbowl and they seemed pretty happy until the next night. Porky was swimming around with something weird hanging from him. We looked it up on the internet, because you can diagnose anything on the internet, and found out that Porky had been eating too much, (living up to his name) and had a condition called "Fish Constipation". The directions said not to feed him for two days and he would be fine. So we went back and bought another fishbowl ($7.98) so that Porky wouldn't eat Marcea's food.

Well needless to say, the starvation therapy backfired and Porky was found lying in the bottom of the bowl today. Alyssa said that earlier she could tell he was on his last leg....I don't know why she didn't try to resuscitate him. Christan didn't take the whole thing too hard until he saw Paige taking a picture of her fish (because she wanted to have a picture of Marcea in case she died) and he felt bad that he had already flushed Porky. Paige quickly recognized Christian's grief and drew a picture of Porky, which she let Christian color and then we took a picture of the picture of Porky. Everyone had ice cream and went to bed happy.

Other news for the day:

-Chelsea gave her campaign speech on the School TV today and Alyssa said she did a great job. She will find out at 7:15 tomorrow morning if she made Senate again. Let's all keep our fingers crossed. I thing if she doesn't make it she will be ok, but I will probably cry.

-I am working on a door decoration for Christian's teacher's door for teacher appreciation week next week. I went to the school today and interviewed and took pictures of all the kids in his class to put on the poster. Kindergartner's are funny!

-Alyssa has been asked to play the harp for her friend's benefit concert on Monday. Elise is raising money to pay for her to go to Italy and be an exchange student in August. That means I lose one of my Mia Maids. Maybe I'll boycott the fundraiser. J\K

-Chelsea performed with Clayton Productions at the Golden Living Center today and did an awesome job on her solo. She was the best if you ask me.

-Our nephew\cousin Danny leaves on his mission tomorrow. I know he will be a great missionary, and I hope he has a lot of success in Arkansas. Love you Danny!

-Mom and dad will be back from their trip to Canada in a few days. I'm glad they are having a good time. I felt so bad when they had to cut their last trip short. One day in Aruba is just not enough!

-Carlos and I signed up to be friends on Facebook today. I'm not sure exactly what that means but I'm sure it will be fun!

It is raining and snowing tomorrow, so put your flip flops back in the closet. Love to all!

HELLOOOOOO

Hi everyone! Chelsea here,
well today was a pretty fun day, I am running for senate at my school, and it was the primary votes, and ten came home, I went to dance and when I got back, we all went to a library, because there was a teen poetry contest and Alyssa's poem got 4th place out of her age group! (WOO HOO)
Now we are all at home kind of relaxing.

Christian says he wants to play ice hockey now.

Paige learned how to ice skate.

A Snowy day in April

It's a great day to begin my new blog. I thought (hoped) that we were done with the snow but it is a blustery snowy day and I am staying inside! Blogging is a very new concept to me, but I think it will be one way to begin my family history in a weird cyberspace sort of fashion. The name of this blog is "Toadally Clark" which expresses my fondness for frogs and toads (this mortifies my mother). I am hoping that I can convince Carlos, Alyssa and Chelsea to write here as well. I think it will be fun!

Many of my thoughts lately have centered on my children and the joys that they bring to me. I am in a mode right now where I am realizing that they are growing up before my eyes (Alyssa will be driving in just over a year).....(everybody stay off the lawns and sidewalks) and I feel like I'm not quite prepared for all that is to come. I am so proud of each of the kids. They seem to be much stronger than I was at their ages. Alyssa and Chelsea are both on the High Honor roll this trimester and I question sometimes how they could be children of mine! I guess they take after their dad when it comes to the smarts!

Alyssa just finished performing in "The Unsinkable Molly Brown" which was really fun to watch. Just yesterday we received notice that she placed in a county-wide poetry contest. She continues to amaze me with her abilities on the harp and piano.

Chelsea is running for 8th grade senate right now (today they are having the primary elections). She made senate last year and that election for me was a nail-biter (as if I need and excuse to bite my nails!) When she wants something she really goes after it. I so admire that! Her performance season begins this weekend with Clayton Productions. They have two medley's that they are preparing for, a 50's themed one and also a "High School Musical" theme. Chelsea loves performing with this group.

Right now I am home-schooling Paige. She had a crummy teacher this year and the home schooling seems to be just the right thing for her. She wakes up in the mornings singing non-stop and does her chores quickly. What a blessing for me!

Christian is doing the Kindergarten thing and I am trying to keep him from growing up. It's not really working. He is an amazing young boy because he has a strong desire to learn and asks dozens of questions each day. He is really doing well with his reading and is giving his sister (Paige) a run for her money on times tables!

I love Carlos with all my heart but it seems like my life revolves around the kids these days. I keep telling myself that I need to concentrate on setting some goals for myself so that I won't be one of those grouchy old people when I grow up. (if I ever grow up!).

Well that's enough, I think to start out my great new blog. I am off on another taxi-driver excursion. In the snow.....and the cold. The sun will soon shine and bring all sorts of happy feelings...and hopefully my hummingbirds will return. If they do,I'll post pictures. We had three nests last year. Wishing anyone who reads this warm happy rays of sunshine!
